I dont remember Redd White changing his name to Bandit Keith. If theres a fragment of key in the lock then yes extracting it while moving pins out of the way to do so would be an appropriate solution. Jiggle the key while pulling outward gently.
When a key breaks off in the lock most people go right for the tweezers.
